The Ardent Fitness & Education Team

Meet the Team that is Dedicated to Your Success

our founder

Austin Phillips
Owner, CF-L2 Trainer
USAW Level 1

Austin’s fitness journey has been a lifelong pursuit. He started lifting weights in high-school, and continued his fitness journey into the military. Austin was first exposed to CrossFit in 2009 while in Iraq, but he let his ego get in the way. Bigger was better in his eyes and CrossFit was the contrary of a sheltered mentality. It was not until his deployment in Afghanistan when he started adding functional fitness into his workouts that he saw the light. After returning from Afghanistan, Austin decided to turn his love for fitness into a career and Ardent Fitness and Education was born in 2013. Austin enjoys working with disabled Veterans and people who think they are beyond repair. He truly believes fitness is and can be for anyone and it is never too late. Six years of owning a gym and training thousands of clients in group and personal training sessions have given him a unique perspective on how exercise can repair people physically and mentally.

Biggest Fitness Hurdle:
Can I have two? Food and Ego. I am a notorious over eater. I need to weigh my food or I will eat all of it. My ego can be a big hurdle in achieving my fitness goals. I struggle with accepting I am not the same person at 38, as I was at 28 and being able to step back and scale when needed..

Things people may not know:I love the Harry Potter books and I suck at building things. Don’t let my amazing facial hair confuse you and let you think I could actually fix something mechanical!

Dig a Bit Deeper:
I started this journey because I loved fitness and I liked the idea of owning a business. After owning the business for one year, my values shifted. When I saw the first side by side picture of a member at her one year mark (Rachel), I still loved fitness but I needed to help people. No matter what happens, I know we have changed lives. We could fail tomorrow, shut the doors, and I would still consider this business a success. We have helped people, forged friendships, started families, and changed lives through this medium of entrepreneurship in the fitness field. I am grateful every single day I can wake up and pursue my dream and cannot wait to help even more people!
